the Treasure Coast
Protection That Works When Nobody Is Home
A large share of houses on this coast sit empty through hurricane season. Shutters need somebody at the property to close them; glass does not. That is usually the real decision here, and it is the one we start with.
Tell us the address and whether the house is occupied year round. On this coast the second answer changes the recommendation more than the first.

What we install
What we install
Six opening types. On this coast every one of them is judged by whether it still works with nobody in the building.
Impact Windows
The core product, and on this coast the argument for it is different from the one made further south. Here the deciding factor is usually not cost or code — it is whether anyone will be at the house when a storm is named.

Sliding Glass Doors
Sliders here are large, they face water, and they have usually been sitting in salt air for decades. All three of those change what has to be checked before anything is ordered.

Impact Entry Doors
An approved entry door is an assembly — slab, frame, hinges, lock, threshold and glazing approved together. On a seasonal property it is also the one opening that gets used all year by somebody who does not live there.

Impact Garage Doors
A double garage door is usually the largest single opening in the envelope. On a seasonal property it is also the one that sits shut and untouched in salt air for months, which ages it differently from one in daily use.

French & Specialty Shapes
Arched heads, radius tops, oversized fixed glass and French pairs are fabricated for one opening in one house. They set the finish date, and on a seasonal property the finish date is the whole negotiation.

Glazing Into Existing Frames
Where the existing frames are sound and an approval exists for glazing into them, changing only the glass is cheaper, faster and far less disruptive. On this coast the deciding factor is almost always corrosion rather than age.

Treasure Coast specifics
What is different here
The house being empty is not a detail on this coast. It is the decision.
The 2004 Rebuild
Frances and Jeanne came ashore at almost the same point on this coast three weeks apart in September 2004. The rebuilding that followed happened at speed, during a shortage, and it left a distinctive housing stock behind.

A House Nobody Is In
Approved shutters meet the requirement and cost less. They also need somebody at the house to deploy them. On a coast where a large share of properties are empty through hurricane season, that single fact decides most of these jobs.

Island & Lagoon
The barrier islands here are narrow, with ocean on one side and the Indian River Lagoon on the other. There is very little distance from water in any direction, and that shows up in the fixings long before it shows up in the frames.

Three Counties, Three Rules
The Treasure Coast is one market to a buyer and three jurisdictions to a permit. Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River each run their own building department, and several municipalities inside them run their own on top of that.

How We Work Here
We are based in Fort Lauderdale and the Treasure Coast is a real drive from us. We work it in scheduled blocks, and that has consequences worth stating before you call rather than after.

The difference
Why people call us rather than a volume installer
Half these houses are empty when the storm arrives
Shutters are a perfectly good way to meet the requirement, and they are cheaper. They also need somebody standing at the house to close them. On a coast where a large share of properties sit empty from May to November, that is not a detail — it is the whole decision. Impact glass is protection that does not depend on anyone being in town.
September 2004 left a specific kind of house behind
Frances and Jeanne came ashore at almost the same point three weeks apart. What followed was an enormous volume of repair work done at speed, during a materials and labor shortage, and a lot of it is thinly documented. When we open a wall here we find out what actually happened in 2005, and it is not always what the file says.
Three counties, three building departments, one short drive
Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River are separate jurisdictions with their own permitting and their own inspectors. Stuart and Vero Beach are forty minutes apart and are not the same process. A contractor who treats the Treasure Coast as one market will eventually be wrong about which one you are in.
We measure, we schedule, and our own crews install
Most of this trade sells the job and subcontracts the installation to whoever is free that week. We do not. The stucco returns and the interior casing are in our scope rather than handed to a separate trade you end up chasing after we have gone home.

FAQ
Common questions
- Should I get shutters instead?
- If somebody is reliably at the house between June and November and the budget is tight, quite possibly yes — shutters across every opening beat glass across half of them. If the house is empty for the season, the cost comparison is misleading, because shutters need a person. We do not fit shutters, so that advice costs us the job.
- My house was repaired after the 2004 storms. Does that matter?
- It is a reason to look rather than assume. That repair wave happened fast, during a shortage, and the documentation is often thin. What a survey finds behind the stucco is not reliably what the permit file describes.
- Are Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River the same for permitting?
- No. They are three separate building departments with their own submittal requirements, review times and inspection scheduling, and some municipalities inside them run their own. It shows up in the schedule rather than the quote.
- Are you local?
- No. We are Fort Lauderdale based and work this coast in scheduled blocks. We would rather say that than claim an office we do not have. It means we are worth calling early and not worth calling in a hurry.

An inspection, photographs of what we found, and a written scope. If the honest answer is that it can wait another season, that is the answer you will get.
